Nike Indoor Nationals

The Rush-Henrietta Indoor Track & Field team completed its season this past weekend at the Nike Indoor National Championships in Boston. Seven members of the team made the trip to compete at the Reggie Lewis Center. Crystal Hercules, 60M; Sean Day, 800M; Colby Burke, Frosh Mile; Nate Kozyra, Frosh Mile; Eghosa Aghayere, Triple Jump; Rachel Zoyhofski, Mile Racewalk and Carley DeFranco, Mile Racewalk.

 
The weather was perfect inside and out, and the competion was hot. We have two athletes that earned All-American honors and very solid performances from the rest of the squad. The team got a chance to get into Boston and visit some sites including riding the subway and Quincy Market.
 
Rachel Zoyhofski: ALL-AMERICAN
National Runner-Up in Mile Racewalk in 7:48.60, this is Rachel's second straight All-American indoor racewalk.
 
Carley DeFranco:
9th place overall in the Mile Racewalk in 8:17.96, Carley led most of her race and was in the national spotlight during that time.
 
Colby Burke:ALL-AMERICAN
National Runner-Up in the Freshman Mile in 4:35.24, this is Colby's first All-American award.
 
Nate Kozyra:
16th place overall in the Freshman Mile in 4:47.88, Nate ran very well and only finished 1 second off his personal best Mile
 
Eghosa Aghayere:
14th place overall in the Triple Jump in 44' 9", only 12 inches off his personal best.
 
Sean Day:
62nd overall in the 800M in 2:03.33, his personal best time for indoor.
 
Crystal Hercules:
36th overall in the 60M in 8.03, this is equivalent to a 7.4x which is only a second off her lifetime best.
 
This was a great meet and experience for all. Thank you to the parents that helped make this possible for the athletes and the head coach
I hope next year we can bring more, rent a couple of vans and raise the competive bar to at higher level for the R-H Track & Field program.
